Job Type: Full-Time M-F 7:30am- 4:30pm
Certification: Minimum requirement- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Required


Position Summary:
The School Health Aide provides essential support to the school nurse in delivering healthcare services to students and staff. This role ensures the well-being of the school community by assisting with health screenings, first aid, and basic healthcare procedures while maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have a current CNA certification and the ability to work effectively in a school setting with children of all ages.


Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Health Services:
- Support the school nurse in daily operations, including administering medication as directed, performing health assessments, and delivering basic first aid.
- Monitor students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) under the supervision of the school nurse.

- Emergency Care & First Aid:
- Provide immediate care to students or staff experiencing illness or injury. Ensure that appropriate medical treatment is administered promptly.
- Assist with emergency procedures, including contacting emergency services or parents/guardians when necessary.


- Health Screenings & Monitoring:
- Conduct routine health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.) and document results.
- Monitor students for signs of illness and report observations to the school nurse.


- Record-Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records of students.
- Record daily health office visits and ensure all documentation is up to date and compliant with state laws.
- Report any communicable diseases or health concerns to the nursing  and principal.


- Communication:
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health needs or concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to ensure the holistic well-being of students.


- Health Education:
- Assist in educating students and staff on health practices such as hygiene, nutrition, and general wellness.

- Sanitation & Health Protocols:
- Maintain a clean and organized health office.
- Follow health protocols for infection control and the safe disposal of medical waste.

Qualifications:
- Minimum Requirement: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications (American Heart Association or Red Cross preferred).
- Experience working with children in a healthcare or educational setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.


Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work with children of various ages in a compassionate and patient manner.
- Capable of handling emergencies calmly and efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping abilities.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate with school staff and healthcare professionals.

Work Environment:
- This position is primarily based within the school health office but may require mobility throughout the school campus.
- May occasionally require lifting or assisting students with limited mobility.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Compensation: $35,000 per year
