On behalf of our client, McDonald Steel Plate Inc., located in Cleveland, Ohio, Decision Associates is seeking applicants for the position of Technical Sales Representative. McDonald Steel Plate is a growing steel plate manufacturing company. Their technically proficient sales and engineering team interpret customer CAD files and drawings to produce accurate parts with quality assurance. State-of-the-art nesting programs enable them to better utilize materials, resulting in lower product costs for their customers.

Working at their Cleveland, Ohio location, the Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for utilizing AutoCAD and nesting programs to develop accurate client drawings as well as program machines. The successful candidate will show demonstrated sales experience working in a high-paced environment. This position is expected to communicate the functions and capabilities of McDonald Steel Plate to both new and existing customers.

This position has a hybrid option after a designated in-person training period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer requirements to design tailored AutoCAD solutions, on-time and to specification, in a fast-paced environment
  • Program machines to manufacture customer designs
  • Understand the complex technical products, services, and solutions offered by McDonald Steel Plate, and effectively communicate their functionalities, benefits, & applications to potential customers
  • Identify and understand customer product & service needs to recommend McDonald Steel Plate products to meet those needs
  • Maintain detailed reports of sales activities, including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and problems with customer relations
  • Develop and execute successful business plans
  • Participate in tradeshows to showcase McDonald Steel Plate’s products and services

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of AutoCAD drafting experience
  • Technical and innovative approach to creating efficient & effective products
  • Proficient in technical sales or motivation to acquire skills in this area
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in the Steel Industry
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, ProNest and BurnyII CNC software platforms
