What we need: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Staff Accountant that will serve as a key contributor to the organization by performing various accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring efficient financial operations. This is an onsite role that is critical to the success of the business operations for Tamarack Holdings and its family of businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply your expertise in QuickBooks to maintain and record all accounts payable and accounts receivable including coding and entering invoices, customer sales receipts, purchase orders, vendor bills, credit card transactions and other financial data.
  • Prepare journal entry support, maintain the general ledger, prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, P&L statements and reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts and other financial accounts.
  • Collaborate with outside auditors and gather the necessary information for the annual audit.
  • Use your analytical and problem-solving mindset to proactively identify issues within QuickBooks and work quickly to correct.
  • Be system minded by managing the purchasing and invoicing systems and recommends updates and enhancements to the accounting system.
  • Jump in and be a helping hand in the office as a part of the administration team which includes greeting visitors to the office, helping answer incoming phone calls, and distributing mail and packages.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an accounting.
  • Experience with QuickBooks software, Microsoft Office Suite and Teams site.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.

Success in this position will be measured by an excellent understanding of accounting functions, software skills, timeliness, and organizational skills as well as good communication and leadership skills.

Salary and Benefits:

We provide a competitive wage range of $50-65k per year, depending on experience.
