Position Summary:
As the Programs Manager I, you will play a crucial role in overseeing The Sophia Way's three shelter programs-Day Center, Sophia's Place, and Helen's Place. Working closely with the Programs Manager II and Shelter Leads, you will ensure that our service standards are upheld while fostering a trauma-informed, supportive environment. Your leadership will be key in managing staff, developing programs, and maintaining compliance with policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the operations of three shelter programs, ensuring high service standards.
- Collaborate with external providers and represent The Sophia Way at meetings with local shelters, organizations, and advocates.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and managing Programs staff, ensuring regular performance reviews and policy compliance.
- Address employee matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, with proper documentation.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of organizational policies and ensure staff adherence.
- Ensure the safety of shelter participants and staff by following health and safety guidelines.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide coverage for special projects and emergencies.
- Develop and maintain services for shelter participants, coordinating with external service providers.
- Complete necessary reporting, documentation, and audits, and manage payroll submissions for Programs staff.
- Oversee the scheduling and communication for team and staff meetings.
- Manage client feedback, analyze survey results, and implement solutions to enhance services.
- Facilitate the Resident Council and continuously update department policies.
- Step in for the Programs Manager II when necessary and perform other related duties.
Supervision:
You will report directly to the Managing Executive Director and supervise Shelter Leads, supporting their management of Shift Leads, Shelter Staff, and volunteers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Proven experience in recruiting, retaining, and leading successful teams.
- Strong management skills in goal-setting, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
- Ability to foster cross-team collaboration and work effectively with diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Commitment to The Sophia Way's mission, values, and community-oriented spirit, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of stationary work with frequent movement between office and shelter locations.
- Occasional stair use, off-site travel, and lifting of supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.
