Purpose:

The Lead Technician is responsible for training, assisting, and supervising branch technicians. Under the umbrella responsibility of a Branch Operations Manager or Service Manager, the Lead Technician’s responsibilities include training and supervision of the preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of the rental fleet. Providing direction to technicians to ensure that all work is performed in compliance with company safety and compliance standards, and within all federal and state regulations. The Lead Technician position is critical to sustaining a culture of teamwork, safety, and efficiency within the branch.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist branch leadership with branch operations including supervision of technicians engaged in equipment repairs/maintenance, and installation.
  • Act as service manager when the service manager is absent.
  • Handle service calls appropriately, dispatching and supporting the on-call technician.
  • In addition to supervisory function, perform safety and DOT inspection audits.
  • Ensure quality customer service is provided to all internal and external customers.
  • Perform scheduling and pre-delivery customer calls.
  • Coordinate technician production needs to maintain fleet readiness.
  • Own and maintain the readiness and condition of the rental fleet.
  • Provide training and assistance to technicians from onboarding to advanced diagnostics.
  • Assign and schedule work orders in an efficient customer-focused manner.
  • Perform cycle counts as well as assist with full inventory reconciliation.
  • Perform technician duties including the repair, installation, delivery, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and properly train Team Members to perform tasks in a safe manner using established safety program. Follow and promote all safety standards.
  • Indirectly supervise 2-20 Team Members in the shop. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Mobile Air & Power Rentals policies and applicable laws.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • 1 year of experience managing technical employees preferred.
  • Successful experience in financial management against measurable performance standards, leading/managing an Operations Team.
  • Advanced technical acumen for the core Mobile Air & Power Rentals activities including Electrical, Diesel and Temperature Control preferred.
  • Experience with lean principles including 5S/6S and other related process improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.
