Rapid City, United States YMCA of Rapid City Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Starting Pay: $14.00 per hour

Location: Rapid City, SD

Hours of Operations: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 5:30 pm

Shift: 8 hours

Join our vibrant team at the YMCA of Rapid City and embark on a rewarding journey as a Childcare Assistant Teacher. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in the lives of young learners, ensuring their safety, fostering their growth, and contributing to a nurturing environment where they can thrive. As a cornerstone of our childcare program, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families every day.

Safety is our top priority, and as a Childcare Assistant Teacher, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of each child under your care. This includes implementing and adhering to YMCA safety procedures, as well as state and local codes, to create a secure environment where children can learn and grow with confidence.

But safety is just the beginning. At the YMCA, we believe in nurturing the whole child - mind, body, and spirit. That's why you'll have the chance to engage in purposeful programming designed to meet the developmental needs of each child. Working alongside our lead teachers, you'll implement age-appropriate curricula that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

Building positive relationships is at the heart of everything we do at the YMCA. As a Childcare Assistant Teacher, you'll have the opportunity to develop and maintain positive relationships with all the children in your care. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, you'll help children feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

In addition to working closely with children, you'll also have the opportunity to interact with YMCA families on a daily basis. By providing ongoing positive dialogue and support, you'll help build strong connections between families and our childcare program, fostering a sense of community and belonging for all.

Continuing education is essential to our commitment to excellence at the YMCA. That's why we provide annual training opportunities for all our staff members, including Childcare Assistant Teachers. By staying up-to-date on the latest best practices and educational trends, you'll be better equipped to support the needs of the children in your care and provide the highest quality programming possible.

Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment is essential to creating a positive learning experience for children. As a Childcare Assistant Teacher, you'll take pride in ensuring that our childcare spaces are well-maintained and properly equipped with everything needed for a successful day of learning and exploration.

At the YMCA, we believe in the power of social and emotional learning to help children develop essential life skills such as empathy, self-awareness, and conflict resolution. That's why we've implemented the YMCA Social and Emotional Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, into our childcare program. As a Childcare Assistant Teacher, you'll play an active role in implementing these principles in your daily interactions with children, helping them develop the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in school and in life.

In addition to your daily responsibilities, you'll also be responsible for completing opening and closing procedures as required, as well as accurately documenting any incidents or accidents that occur during your shift. By following all childcare policies and procedures with diligence and attention to detail, you'll help ensure the safety and well-being of every child in our care.

If you're passionate about childcare, dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and families, we invite you to join our team at the YMCA. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
