Summit County, located in Utah, is looking for a Victim Advocate. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Victim Advocate to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in reducing trauma for victims and witnesses of crime, promoting trust and communication between victims, prosecutors, and law enforcement, while respectfully and objectively protecting victims’ rights. Salary Range: $23.64 - $33.10 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services, or a closely related field; AND
  • No experience necessary; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inform victims of their rights under the law. Prepare victims for court, provide court accompaniment and notify victims of future court proceedings, including updates of their offender’s case.
  • Assist victims with filing and obtaining orders of protection; prepare orders for service and attend hearings. Assess victim needs and act as a resource for community service referrals. Aid victims in accessing restitution and reparation funding.
  • Document and communicate effectively in the exchange of information by completing thorough case documentation in Cloud based electronic case management system. Prepare and ensure adequate supplies are available of various handouts and brochures at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
