Irrigation Foreman

Summary: To install and maintain irrigation heads, valves, controllers, wiring, and underground piping.

Essential Functions:

• Install sprinkler systems
• Manage work schedules and allocate equipment
• Supervise irrigation crews
• Quality control
• Operate pumps, suction and other equipment
• Complete scheduled mechanical servicing of equipment
• Installs, adjusts, repairs and replaces irrigation systems.
• Locate and repair broken pipes, irrigation heads, etc. to reduce water loss and assure proper operation of systems.
• Adjusts, resets, repairs or replaces irrigation controllers and/or valves.
• Programs, monitors and adjusts computer controlled irrigation systems.
• Operates irrigation truck, trencher, backhoe and other mechanical equipment used in the operation, repair and maintenance of the systems.
• Maintains a stock of repair parts, irrigation heads, tools and other components and supplies used in the work.
• Drives irrigation crew members to sites
• Compiles and prepares necessary reports and records.
• Manages crew timesheets via GoLMN

• Ability to make simple electrical repairs.
• Ability to operate irrigation trencher, backhoe, truck and other necessary hand and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to remove and replace turf, shrubs and plants without damage as needed in system installation, repair and maintenance.
• Ability to work overtime and/or be on call.

Supervisory Responsibility: People: Oversees the irrigation crew members

• Processes: Directs the installation and repair of irrigation systems

Work Environment: The majority of the work is done outside. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

This position requires the use of safety equipment such as but not limited to ear protection, gloves, eye protection, etc…

Indoor work will be in an office environment or in a shop setting. While in the shop setting they can be exposed to loud noises, fumes and moving mechanical parts.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 50 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday.

Required Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent work experience. Previous irrigation experience of 5 plus years.
