Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The VP, Branch Banking leads overall sales and service activities for Citizens Bank, including Branch Manager business development retail branch operations, and retail banking business lines. Responsible for strategy, planning and operations of core retail banking and lending activities. Drives continuous service experience improvements and sustainable business development. Collaborates with key members of the Citizens Bank management team to ensure compliant and efficient banking operations.


Essential Duties:

  1. Strategic and operational leadership of Citizens Bank retail branch service delivery channels. Collaborate with leaders throughout the bank to deliver complete solutions to every customer.
  2. Strategic and operational leadership of retail banking and lending lines of business, including everyday banking and payments, consumer lending, residential lending, small business banking and other key consumer financial services lines of business.
  3. Actively fosters and oversees the development of a culture of customer centric sales both inside and outside of the branch.
  4. Provides guidance and support to Branch Managers on employee performance issues within their Branch, as well as accurately completing employee reviews, discipline, and employee recognition.
  5. Coaches and trains internal prospective managers to enable a succession plan within retail ultimately creating a higher level of performance throughout.
  6. Assists Training Officer with creating appropriate training programs within Retail at all levels.
  7. Interviewing and Hiring of the Branch Managers, as well as handling performance issues with Branch Management.
  8. Lead modernization of sales and service delivery channels to support improved customer experience, improved efficiency, and overall growth.
  9. Actively participates in community affairs to increase Citizens Bank's visibility and create new business opportunities.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Senior level interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and relationship management skills
  2. Senior level managerial communication skills
  3. Senior level organizational savvy, influence, and cultural navigation skills
  4. High level of organizational, problem solving, critical thinking, and time management skills
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft suite of business productivity software

Minimum Level of Performance and Training Required:

  1. BS/BA degree in relevant field from an accredited college/university and/or the equivalent based on a combination of education and leadership experience.
  2. 5 years of retail management experience, with some portion of the time managing multi-branch locations.
  3. 3 years' experience in sales and/or financial environment, demonstrating the experience with calling on business customers or working with business lenders for the same
  4. 2 years of general bank lending experience
  5. Comprehensive understanding of retail banking products and services
  6. Strong ties to business and civic community in Morgan, Hendricks, Johnson, and/or Marion counties strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:

  1. Travel expected, local, 80% of the time.
  2. Generally good. Some exposure to adverse conditions when making business development calls, such as stair climbing.
  3. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions (i.e. robbery). Receives detailed instructions concerning procedures to be followed during a robbery.
