GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Electrical Forman will oversee the electrical work on the construction site, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, on time, and to the required standards.   This position requires experience in solar power systems, team management and on-site electrical operations.  The Forman will lead a team, coordinating with various departments to facilitate the successful completion of the project.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Supervise and lead team members on the construction site
  • Provide guidance, and support to ensure high-quality work and adherence to safety standards
  • Collaborate with managers, site superintendents, and others to ensure timely completion of the project
  • Coordinate with other trades on the site to avoid conflicts and ensure smooth project progression
  • Monitor project schedules and adjust work plans as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, and all related components
  • Ensure that all electrical work is performed according to design specifications, local codes, and industry standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to electrical systems
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to maintain a safe working environment
  • Address any safety concerns promptly and effectively
  • Inspect and test electrical installations to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications
  • Identify and correct any deficiencies or non-conformance issues
  • Maintain documentation of work performed and inspections completed
  • Track inventory and ensure that materials are used efficiently to minimize waste
  • Maintain accurate records of labor hours, material usage, and project progress
  • Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports to managers
  • Document any changes to the project scope or schedule and communicate these to relevant parties
  • Mentor and develop the skills of less experienced team members

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience as an electrician, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably on solar construction sites
  • High school diploma or equivalent. A journeyman electrician license is required. 
  • OSHA 30-hour certification, First Aid/CPR certification
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Strong Knowledge of NEC, local electrical codes, and solar PV systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, manage time effectively, and solve problems on-site
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, management, and clients

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines
  • Capability to work in outdoor environments for prolonged periods, often under varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain)
  • Proficient in using hand tools related to electrical work, requiring fine motor skills
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve repetitive motions, such as wiring and assembling components
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to navigate and work on uneven terrain and move around the construction site for extended periods
  • Capability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, and to work at heights when necessary
  • Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, and reach in confined spaces or awkward positions
  • Adequate visual acuity to read blueprints, schematics, and small text or devices and instruments
  • Ability to distinguish colors, which is crucial for identifying wires and connections
  • Sufficient hearing ability to detect alarms, signals, and verbal instructions in a noisy construction environment
  • Ability to wear and work with required personal protective equipment (PPE) which may include hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and other gear as mandated by site safety regulations
  • Strong sense of balance and coordination to work safely
  • Capability to maintain focus and mental clarity during long shifts and while performing complex tasks
