POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electrical Foreman will manage the electrical operations on the construction site, ensuring that all tasks are executed safely, punctually, and in accordance with the required standards. This role necessitates expertise in solar energy systems, team leadership, and on-site electrical management. The Foreman will guide a team, liaising with various departments to ensure the project's successful execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and oversee team members on the construction site.
- Provide direction and support to guarantee high-quality work and compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project completion.
- Coordinate with different trades on-site to prevent conflicts and ensure seamless project flow.
- Monitor project timelines and modify work plans as needed to meet deadlines.
- Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and related components.
- Ensure all electrical work adheres to design specifications, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Diagnose and resolve any issues related to electrical systems.
- Enforce safety measures and ensure all work complies with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to uphold a safe working environment.
- Address safety concerns promptly and effectively.
- Inspect and test electrical installations to guarantee quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Identify and rectify any deficiencies or non-compliance issues.
- Maintain records of work performed and inspections completed.
- Manage inventory and ensure efficient use of materials to minimize waste.
- Keep accurate logs of labor hours, material usage, and project progress.
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports to management.
- Document any changes to project scope or schedule and communicate these to relevant parties.
- Mentor and develop the skills of less experienced team members.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated experience as an electrician, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in solar construction.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a journeyman electrician license is mandatory.
- OSHA 30-hour certification and First Aid/CPR certification.
- Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, local electrical codes, and solar PV systems.
- Proven ability to lead a team, manage time effectively, and resolve on-site challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, management, and clients.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Capability to work outdoors for prolonged periods, often under varying weather conditions.
- Proficient in using hand tools related to electrical work, requiring fine motor skills.
- Ability to perform tasks involving repetitive motions, such as wiring and assembling components.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to navigate and work on uneven terrain and move around the construction site for extended periods.
- Capability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, and to work at heights when necessary.
- Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, and reach in confined spaces or awkward positions.
- Adequate visual acuity to read blueprints, schematics, and small text or devices and instruments.
- Ability to distinguish colors, which is crucial for identifying wires and connections.
- Sufficient hearing ability to detect alarms, signals, and verbal instructions in a noisy construction environment.
- Ability to wear and work with required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Strong sense of balance and coordination to work safely.
- Capability to maintain focus and mental clarity during long shifts and while performing complex tasks.
