We are currently searching for Shipping & Receiving Lead for our Caledonia location. As a Shipping & Receiving Lead you can expect to plan, organize, monitor the receiving and storage of all items received from both suppliers and/or production. The Lead will ensure the implementation and maintenance of the ISO policy and procedures within the department. The Lead will assist in managing and promoting the corporate vision, mission statement and core values.

What you need to be successful at Opus Packaging:

  • Minimum of three to five years of shipping/receiving experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in corrugated industry.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts. Negotiating experience to speak effectively with suppliers and/or employees of organization. Must have good oral and written communication skills as well as good listening skills.
  • Solid decision-making skills.
  • Proficient with time management and planning skills. Ability to work independently, attentive to details.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word and Excel.

During a normal workday you can expect to:

  • Directing and coordinating the work of personnel in all aspects of receiving
  • Oversee the receipt of PO’s which includes verifying counts, quality, and checking specs, completing transactions to receive product, process paperwork, tag units, and complete all necessary transactions according to established procedures.
  • Inspect freight upon arrival, document signs of damage, and resolve freight claims in a timely manner.
  • Keep track of pickup dates on all POs and assign/schedule pickups
  • Facilitate coordination of loads from production, audits and reconciliation of transfer trailers, inspecting unit presentation off transfers.
  • Warehouse product according to FIFO work instructions, minimize consumed floor space through proper stacking, row assignment, and racking, maximize material access for pulling and counting
  • Maintain pallet inventory
  • First point of contact for all aspects of inbound product, second point of contact for all other offsite warehouse items.
  • Assist in locating inventory discrepancies in the warehouse
  • Taking care of items that do not meet our quality standards according to work instructions
  • Process return shipments from customers.
  • Cycle count inventory according to established guidelines and assist with correcting inventory problems.
  • Assist with the development, revision and enforcement of inventory management and procedures including record keeping, work instructions, ISO procedures, and other standard operational and work practices as necessary.
  • Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely load and unload trucks as necessary.
  • Administrative duties
  • Perform all other duties as assigned, fill in where needed as necessary.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional environment
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating respectfully with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
  • Complete weekly warehouse inspections
