Inova Ambulatory Surgery Center at Lorton is a full service ambulatory outpatient facility. Located near the intersection of Lorton Road with I-95 and Route 1 at the Inova Lorton HealthPlex, the surgery center is licensed by the state of Virginia, certified by Medicare, accredited by AAAHC.

We provide cost-effective outpatient services using modern, state-of-the-art technology in a friendly and caring environment by highly-skilled, compassionate staff serving Alexandria, the Route 1 corridor and surrounding communities.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Friday
  • Day shift only, no nights, weekends, call, or holidays

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Cleans and decontaminates patient use items by taking apart scopes, rinsing, and soaking scopes and suing washing/disinfection equipment.
  • Keeps required records such as biological testing records and unit checks.
  • Performs required environmental and/or equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Assists with room turnovers by setting up for specific endoscopic procedures.
  • Receives faulty equipment and marks it appropriately prior to sending them out for repair.
  • Distributes supplies and stocks storage areas.
  • Assists in the scrub role during procedures
  • Assists physicians during endoscopic procedures with specimen retrieval.
  • Assist with patient positioning under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

EXPERIENCE YOU'LL NEED:

  • One of more years of GI Tech experience to include scope processing is required
  • The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses & Associates (SGNA) Program Completion/Certification is highly desired
  • BLS certification required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of endoscopic procedures and equipment
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating endoscopy equipment, including video systems, endoscopes, and related accessories
  • Ability to maintain a sterile field and follow infection control protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
