The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is searching for a Junior Staff Accountant to join our team. AAMFT is a national nonprofit professional membership association serving over 25,000 members and has a budget of over $8 million with three corporations. This fully remote position will be responsible for preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, allocations, serve as a backup for A/R and A/P functions, and assist the Chief Financial Officer with financial statement preparation and preparation of miscellaneous federal/city/state reports. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience working with associations and an associate degree in accounting. Candidate should also have strong computer, research, and problem-solving skills. Experience with Sage Intacct and iMIS membership system a plus. Flexible daytime hours M-F. Should possess strong skills in the following areas:

  • Associate Degree in Accounting
  • 2 years of accounting experience, particularly non-profit experience

  • Word processing
  • Coordination within and among multiple AAMFT departments
  • Coordination with AAMFT management

Position requires employee to:

  • Input of all entries assigned into the General Ledger
  • Assist with the preparation of all AAMFT financial statements
  • Ensure that all staff adhere to all AAMFT accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with preparation of annual audit and tax returns
  • Follow internal controls to ensure compliance with AAMFT policies and GAAP
  • Preparation of all reconciliations as assigned by Senior Accountant
  • Preparation of regulatory reports
  • Assist management with financial statement analysis
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of annual budget down to program level
  • Identify and report to management any system problems that inhibit ability for accounting staff to ensure compliance with AAMFT policies and procedures.
