Self-Sufficiency Specialist

CCANO's Refugee Services Program provides case management and employment services to support refugee self-sufficiency. The Program Assistant enhances CCANO's Refugee Services Program by coordinating all direct client assistance benefits. The Program Assistant will manage direct cash assistance to eligible clients and work closely with the Refugee Services team to monitor client progress and determine benefits.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Provide orientation to clients about all direct cash assistance benefits they may be eligible for, including but notlimited to Refugee Cash Assistance, Reception and Placement funds, MatchGrant funds, etc. and clearly explainthe requirements for ongoing enrollment;
•Assess client initial and ongoing monthly eligibility for cash assistance;
•Timely process and track all disbursement vouchers;
•Ensure compliance with all program guidelines for client eligibility, program length, benefits explanation,sanctioning and appeal processes;
•Collect appropriate income information and any other documents required to determine client eligibility;
•Distribute checks to case managers and other team members;
•Sanction clients' financial assistance when appropriate in consultation with Refugee Service team;
•Accurately record all client direct assistance and other services into case management database (LORClientTrack);
•Maintain hard copy and remote copy client files;
•Actively participate in all required meetings;
•Communicate all activities with Refugee Services team and maintain active communication with agency supportdepartments, Louisiana Office for Refugees, and other parties as necessary;
•Assist in preparing files for monitoring visits;
•Support Program Staff with other administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications:
•A High School diploma from an accredited institution;
•Bachelor's degree in social services related field preferred;
•Bilingual (English-Spanish/Arabic/Haitian-Creole) candidates highly preferred. Proficiency in Dari, Farsi, Burmese,Tigrinya, or other languages valued;
•Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or related work preferred;
•Attention to detail and ability to balance multiple simultaneous responsibilities;
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and willingness to learning new systems and databases;
•Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and sensitivity to the special needs of multi-culturalimmigrant children, adults, and families;
•Willingness to develop trauma-informed practices and behaviors;
•Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned;
•Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including maintaining effective workrelationships;
•Strong management and organizational skills, and ability to work across all levels of management and staff.
