WHAT THIS MAINTENANCE APPRENTICE ROLE ENTAILS:

Schedule:

You'll work a full-time 1st shift schedule.

Day-to-Day:

As our Maintenance Apprentice, your day will begin by collaborating with our experienced Maintenance Technician to ensure that all equipment and structures across the campus remain in top condition. You'll start by assisting with routine preventative maintenance tasks, followed by hands-on repairs of equipment and structures as directed. Your role will involve proactive improvement of equipment, learning and applying safety standards specific to a manufacturing environment, and performing vehicle maintenance and inspections. You'll also engage in steam boiler pipe maintenance, use air compressors for cleaning lines and controls, and assist in the upkeep of grain systems and water tests. Guided by our seasoned professionals, you'll operate pumps and augers to address issues, all while efficiently managing your time to prioritize tasks and support the team's overall effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Electrical, pneumatics, and basic PLC ​experience
  • Experience moving vehicles, such as trucks, forklifts, tow motors, etc.
  • ​Understanding of basic tooling
  • Understanding of any maintenance discipline, such as welding, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, controls, boilers, and steam
  • Understanding of hand tools, pumps, PLC controls, electrical panels, and steel, copper, and iron plumbing
  • Proficiency with a preventative maintenance program
  • Ability to collect and analyze information and follow directions
  • Ability to work independently in urgent situations
  • Ability to work in a strong team-based environment
  • Physical ability to frequently sit, stand, kneel, stoop, squat, use hands/fingers, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and loud/congested environments
  • Physical ability to be exposed to steam and alcohol odor/vapor
  • Strong time management skills
