Personal Care Aides at The INN Between provide essential support to residents, focusing on personal hygiene, daily living needs, and overall comfort. They assist with housekeeping, meal service, and engaging activities, contributing to a supportive community environment. Ideal candidates will possess Assisted Living experience and a background in working with homeless populations and individuals with disabilities. Personal Care Aides may be volunteers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate compassionate bedside manner with all residents.
  • Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Support activities of daily living including meal assistance, ambulation, and repositioning.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and patient observations.
  • Ensure patient comfort by responding promptly to requests and needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of care provided.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure resident and employee safety.
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality and uphold professional standards.
  • Assist with general housekeeping, laundry, dining room service, and organizing supplies.
  • Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines during all duties.
  • Continuously update knowledge through education and training opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Pass State background check.
  • Availability for 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Food Handler’s Permit or willingness to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and manage relationships effectively.
  • Experience in health-related fields, particularly geriatrics or homelessness.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic records systems.
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Effective hearing, listening, and manual dexterity.
  • Visual acuity for observing residents' needs.
  • Capability for standing, sitting, walking, squatting/kneeling, and pushing/pulling.

Communications Requirements

  • Open communication with all team members.
  • Receptive to constructive feedback and committed to conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated empathy, respect, and integrity in all interactions.
  • Commitment to a gossip-free workplace culture.

Health Requirements

  • Health evaluation including TB test and immunization review by RN Supervisor.
  • Current flu and COVID-19 vaccinations, including booster.

Training

  • General orientation and job-specific training.
  • 16 hours of one-on-one training with direct care staff.
  • Personal Care Aide training and skills assessment.
  • Annual in-service training to maintain skills and knowledge.
