Job Summary:

The Quality Control Associate - dock inspections oversees adherence to approved product specifications. Responsibilities include inspecting products upon unloading from trucks, covering a range from retail-ready goods to materials like pillow shells and polyester fibers. Tasks entail approving incoming materials, monitoring production processes, inspecting finished products, and maintaining comprehensive records to ensure quality standards are met.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and customer protocols.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Identify and address the causes of product defects and reworks.
  • Confirm specifications and approve incoming materials, conducting rigorous visual and measurement tests, and promptly rejecting unacceptable materials when necessary.
  • Meticulously track and document defects for each purchase order (PO) inspected based on Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) standards.
  • Utilize industry-best practices to inspect samples, including rigorous comparisons to standards, precise measurement of dimensions, and meticulous examination of functionality.
  • Conduct required tests and meticulously approve all finished products according to specifications.
  • Initiate rigorous re-work processes for products that do not meet standards, ensuring meticulous completion of all required documentation.
  • Meticulously record inspection results, including comprehensive reports, meticulously maintained logs, detailed summaries of re-works, and meticulous inputting of data into quality databases or Excel spreadsheets.
  • Provide assistance on the production line as needed, such as meticulous fluffing, precise trimming of threads, and meticulous removal of excess fill.
  • Take ownership of and/or provide meticulous assistance in inline and final inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Familiarity with Acceptable Quality Level standards is advantageous.
  • Inspectorio Knowledge: Preferred but will train as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Preferably 2-3 years of experience in quality control.
  • Experience managing a facility with a WMS. WMS implementation experience preferred.
  • Experience in managing a facility with $5 million of inventory at cost and shipping to big box retailers such as Walmart and Costco.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and maneuver objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and use hands and fingers for precise manipulation.
  • Comfortable working in an indoor environment with varying temperatures.
