Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse - Surgical
Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our surgical team. The LVN will play a crucial role in providing pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout their surgical journey.
Responsibilities:
Pre-operative Preparation:
- Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including taking vital signs, documenting medical history, and ensuring all pre-operative procedures are completed accurately.
- Educate patients and families about the surgical process, post-operative expectations, and recovery protocols.
Intra-operative Support:
- Assist the surgical team by preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and properly sterilized.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile field and provide assistance during surgical procedures as required.
Post-operative Care:
- Monitor post-operative patients closely, assessing their vital signs, pain levels, and overall recovery progress.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patients are comfortable and their needs are met.
Wound Care and Monitoring:
- Provide specialized wound care, including dressing changes and monitoring for signs of infection or complications.
- Educate patients on wound care techniques and signs to watch for post-discharge.
Documentation and Collaboration:
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient care interventions, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated patient care.
Qualifications:
- Active LVN license in Texas.
- Previous experience in a surgical setting or related field is preferred.
- Proficient in patient assessment, wound care, and post-operative care protocols.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Additional certifications related to surgical nursing or perioperative care.
