Huntington University has an opening for Occupational Therapy Assistant, Program Director.

As the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the program's operation. Your primary responsibilities will include curriculum development and review, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and fostering a supportive learning environment for students. You will collaborate with faculty to design effective teaching strategies and assessments, as well as provide mentorship and guidance to students throughout their academic journey. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing program resources, budgeting, and maintaining relationships with clinical sites for student placements. Your leadership and vision will be essential in driving the program's success and preparing future occupational therapy assistants for rewarding careers in healthcare.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and an understanding of the relationship of faith and professional practice
  • A commitment to stewardship and a desire to serve others
  • Program Director must have a minimum of 5 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy to include clinical practice; administrative experience (program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting); scholarship (scholarship of application and scholarship of teaching and learning); understanding of and experience with occupational therapy assistants; 1 year or more in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary level
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Indiana
  • Commitment to an occupational therapy practice curriculum based on the mission of the University that exemplifies Christian ethics, compassion, and service
  • Demonstrated successful teaching and curriculum development experience in undergraduate and/or graduate level institutions, with program development experience strongly recommended
  • Administrative and management experience in an educational institution or health care agency
  • Evidence of clinical practice and research activities in professional health care organizations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, the University community, and clinical agencies
  • Commitment to strategies for professional development
  • Demonstrated writing skills

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Oversee the OTA program philosophy consistent with the University’s philosophy and mission
  • Direct strategic planning for the OTA program in alignment with the university’s strategic plan
  • Create/modify objectives and goals, curriculum plan, course offerings and other materials needed to maintain accreditation through AOTA’s Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education
  • Teach 12 credits annually and conduct collaborative or independent research related to an area of clinical expertise
  • Release time is provided for administrative responsibilities as OTA program director. As a result, the OTA program director will teach 12 credits per year (6 per semester) and receive 12 credits release time per year.
  • Work with University administration to continue to hire and develop OTA department faculty members
  • Manage faculty and staff assigned to the OTA program
  • Collaborate with OTD Program Directors and OTD faculty/staff to align faculty expertise, resource utilization, and fieldwork experiences
  • Promote inter-professional education in the curriculum
  • Manage program policies and procedures and lead the ongoing professional development of the department
  • Maintain the library collection and other learning resources together with appropriate administrators
  • Initiate relationships with area health care agencies to select clinical learning experiences related to the curriculum and with the clinical director ensure high quality clinical learning opportunities
  • Manage appropriate measures of learning outcomes and professional success of program graduates
  • Cooperate with appropriate university staff in areas such as: undergraduate marketing and admissions, registration and scheduling, public relations, financial aid, etc.
  • Work with other university administrators to secure ongoing funding for building the program.
  • Participate in University committees and other regular faculty activities as expected or required
  • Perform all duties and requirements as stated in the Faculty Handbook as a faculty member.
  • Administrate fieldwork alignment with curriculum
  • Other assigned duties as required for the position as OTA Program Director
