Job DescriptionJob Description

All direct care billing for outpatient, day treatment, residential, intensive in home, therapeutic foster care, and any additional services. Position must work with a host of payers, liaison between agency and payers, work explanation of benefits, determine insurance eligibility, processing of room and board payments, and collections.


Bill all direct care services to all payer sources for assigned billing areas (i.e., bill to Medicaid, Health Choice/NC Tracks, MCOs, third party insurance, self-pay, etc.)


Post billing coded colors and notation to electronic service activity log (SAL) for direct care services.

Process all explanation of benefits (i.e., post payments, work/correct denials for rebilling, bill secondary/tertiary insurance, etc.)

Communication and coordination with all payer sources (i.e., Medicaid, MCOs, third party insurance agencies, Department of Social Services, clients and families, etc.) in a professional manner.

Invoice clients for balances due and track all collections. Follow-up with agency attorney in carrying out difficult collection cases, communicate with clientele on outstanding balances.

Assist receptionist with check-in and check-out during medication clinics every week (i.e., scheduling appointments, reminder calls, rescheduling appointments, answering phones).

Back up for receptionist as needed (i.e., answering phones, mailing invoices and correspondence, faxing correspondence, taking vital signs and recording them).

Maintain client financial and billing files within the electronic health record and maintain client paper records for residential clients.

Communicate with QI Specialist and Accounts Receivable staff to maintain efficient billing and payments.

Administrative Assistant to the program director (i.e., schedule appointments, answer phone calls, etc.). Coordinate maintenance staff to ensure tracking and completing of maintenance requests and effective use of staff time.

Coordination of lab work done by LabCorp within facility. Schedule and maintain appointments and paperwork as needed. Primary contact for LabCorp.

Assist with marketing and public relations to promote services and generate additional consumer base.

Participate in Quality Improvement program agency wide, including health and safety.


Display good communication and feedback within a team dynamic.

Professionalism in all areas of work, including client and co-worker relationships.


Other duties as assigned.
