Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary:
The lab technician works in conjunction with the Formulations Chemist and chemical staff to perform routine tasks and experiments to specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine laboratory functions to support scientific experiments, investigations, and tests.
  • Assist with the general upkeep and cleaning of the laboratory and equipment.
  • Collecting test results and coordinating with Chemists and production staff.
  • Setting up, testing, adjusting, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus according to specifications.
  • Record analysis and writing reports, reviews, and summaries on the findings of experiments and trials.
  • Collecting and preparing samples, solutions, cultures, and specimens and ensuring safe disposal of waste.
  • Enforcing strict health and safety regulations.
  • Staying up to date with relevant scientific developments that can improve the efficiency of lab operations.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
No formal supervisory role. 

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • This position requires a High school diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of experience in a scientific laboratory working with chemicals required.
  • Experience in chemical waste and/or water treatment plants preferred.
  • Some college education preferred.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and chemical labels.
  • Technical Capacity.
  • Ethical Conduct.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and be self-directed while remaining a team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Independent Decision-Making skills.
Physical/Mental Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Position requires a high degree of concentration to manage frequent interruptions while meeting strict deadlines. This position requires the ability to perform duties using both typical office equipment such as computers, cell phones, and printers as well as the ability to communicate and perform tasks in an office and lab environment. The ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, sit or stand is necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
