Summary
Noah's Ark is now hiring an Associate Teacher. This position supports the Lead Teachers by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Associate Teachers are responsible for helping to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and the Director.
Duties
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum, and see that the program goals are met.
- Assists Lead Teacher in training and supervising Child Care Assistants.
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
- Interact with children and families in a positive manner and maintain frequent communication with parents through informal discussions, daily notes and/or progress reports (room dependent)
- Attend to daily household chores. (dishes, sterilizing toys and furniture, etc.)
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
- Comply with job descriptions specific to individual rooms/age groups.
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a minimum of 9 ECE credits or 2 years of ECE experience
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear full background check.
- Must pass health screening.
