Job Summary:

The Assistant Retail Store Manager reports to the Retail Store Manager for all company and retail store needs. In this role, the assistant learns to oversee and manage daily operations and staff while handling the promotional events that are hosted and supported by Freedom Munitions & LAX


*Before the store opening in late Aug/ early Sept, you will have to get a COE allowing you to sell ammunition in California

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Works as trainee and assists Retail Store Manager in the following functions, duties, and tasks:

  • Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
  • Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, rewarding and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Develops performance criteria.
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Ensures availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintains inventories.
  • Formulates pricing policies in collaboration with sales & marketing team by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotions; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends.
  • Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
  • Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
  • Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
  • Determines marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage and handle all events and promotional functions for Freedom Munitions/LAX
  • Other duties as assigned by store manager.

Specifications/Qualifications:

  • Experience: Some retail store experience highly desired. Knowledge of the shooting industry, ammunition products, and consumers’ needs, or sporting goods preferred.
  • Education: Excellent communication and people skills, organizational skills, and management skills. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business preferred.
  • Responsibility: Manage all aspects of retail store and staff. Handle all special events and promotional functions.
  • Complexity of duties: Quick thinking, excellent customer service including damage control, making decisions with the use of best judgment when a situational decision needs to be made immediately.
  • Supervision received: Direct oversight from Retail Store Manager.
  • Supervision exercised: Little, under the oversight of the Retail Store Manager.
  • Mental and physical demands: Sitting, standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, speaking, listening, motor coordination skills, coordination of eyes, hands, and feet. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Confidential data: On a need-to-know basis to perform job to its fullest.
