Position Summary:

The Purchasing/Planning Assistant supports both the Purchasing and Planning groups with ordering, expediting, planning and clerical functions.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluates office supplies and lunchroom inventory and orders when needed.
  2. Orders shop supplies from PO Suggestions.
  3. Enters and follows-up on transfer orders.
  4. Expedites purchase orders and manufacturing jobs.
  5. Input of work instruction updates.
  6. Reviews system suggestions and create MRP and DDMRP jobs to match organizational demand.
  7. Maintains jobs based on planning workbench suggestions and organizational demand.
  8. Creates rework jobs for non-conforming parts when requested.
  9. Maintains the Approved Suppliers List by tracking approval expiration dates, obtaining completed surveys, and copies of vendor ISO certifications. Updates Epicor when completed.
  10. Maintain product lead time in Epicor to ensure delivery expectations are met.
  11. Maintain Price File in Epicor with updated pricing and expiration dates.
  12. Assists with allocation and releasing of production jobs.
  13. Uses computer and computer systems to set up functions, enter date or process information.

Knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • Two-year degree in Business or similar or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in Purchasing and/or Planning in Manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience using Epicor or ERP system strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Purchasing and Planning policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to respond promptly and thoroughly to inquiries both internal and external to the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with a variety of personalities inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate and manage own work load independently.
  • Self motivated and shows initiative.
  • Work with a proactive, ownership approach.
  • Work as an effective team player who understands the importance of supporting the organization.
  • Hear, speak, and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
  • Sit at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer.
  • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use and to review detailed reports and information.
  • Move around the office and shop areas repeatedly throughout the day.
