Position Description

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing and managing all vendor invoices and employee expense reports, processing volunteer expense reports, managing the corporate credit card limits and payments in accordance with company policy, and initiating and recording US and International wire payments.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing vendor information within the accounting system, including obtaining and filing necessary tax forms such as W-9s and Issue 1099s in compliance with IRS Regulations.
  • Enter and review vendor invoices and expense reports for compliance with ministry policies and approval process.
  • Manage and maintain the ministry's payment cycle by issuing checks, electronic payments, or wires in accordance with payment terms and policies.
  • Properly assign G/L coding, departments, classes, and program segments to all accounting entries for capital assets and amortization schedules, invoices, expense reports, and journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly reports on vendor payments and invoices for ministry and cross-functional teams.
  • Perform month-end closing tasks as assigned by the Director of Accounting, including multiple vendor bill imports requiring the use of CSV templates with imaging documentation, entering data for monthly class reports, donation tracking, and processing weekly mail.
  • Support payroll function as needed for semi-monthly payroll processing.
  • Assist with providing necessary documentation during the annual audit.
  • Ensure all credit charges are properly coded with receipt documentation attached.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience
  • Has a keen eye for detail, can spot minor mistakes, and is committed to delivering high-quality and accurate work
  • Passionate, innovative, and a team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to interact comfortably and professionally with leadership at all levels
  • Experience in using enterprise-wide accounting systems
  • Exposure to Business Process Analysis/Re-engineering helpful
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, NetSuite ERP System, and general knowledge of system navigation for working with CRMs

  • This is a full-time position, reporting to the Director of Accounting
  • Work Location: The CBS Ministry Service Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado
  • Relocation reimbursement is not available for this position


Starting Salary Range

  • Hourly salary range: $19.23 - $28.85
