Summary

Under the direction of the Interim Housing Facility Supervisor, the Onsite House Monitor will be responsible for monitoring, securing, and maintaining the Recovery Bridge Housing (RBH) property, a 15-bed residential program for single adults in recovery from substance abuse. The incumbent must live on the premises, and is responsible for providing guidance, supervision, meal preparation and a safe environment for program participants.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a safe environment at all times, complying with Agency and industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Assist participants within limits in processing issues and problem solving.
  • Consult with Program Manager regarding participant’s personal needs, behavior, and service planning.
  • Attend supervisions, meetings, and trainings.
  • Perform general office/clerical duties, including making copies, filing, and answering direct phone calls, taking detailed messages when necessary.
  • Conduct searches of participant’s bags and belongings at check-in (upon entering the facility).
  • Conduct hourly perimeter (interior/exterior) check of the facility, documenting observations, information, and occurrences.
  • Assisting clients in moving out, when applicable.
  • Incumbent must display the ability to work effectively with adults with co-occurring substance use, history of abuse, as well as mental /physical/developmental disabilities.
  • Establish positive relationships and maintain appropriate boundaries with participants and the community.
  • Maintain a daily log of all activity during their shift.
  • Update staff and management of incidents or notable information through phone/ text and or email during shift hours.
  • Contact appropriate staff, agencies, and/or law enforcement in the event of a critical incident.
  • Organize, distribute, and keep inventory of meals, hygiene kits and donations.
  • Complete and maintain accurate reports, logs, forms, and additional relevant information in accord with agency policies, licensing and/or funding requirements.
  • Maintain the Interim Housing location in accordance with the Interim Housing Maintenance plan with the following responsibilities but not limited to:
    • Assist clients with cleaning room, when applicable
    • Clean and upkeep the communal kitchens
    • Disinfecting bathrooms and showers
    • Dusting
    • Sweeping and mopping
    • Trash removal
    • Vacuuming
    • Washing linen
  • Conduct room checks in accordance with the Interim housing Maintenance plan.
  • Communicate with staff and all residents in a non-judgmental manner, work in a professional manner with all agency staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention (Triage) and support including meals, hygiene, and clothing.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, participants, service providers and the community, maintaining appropriate boundaries. 
  • Prepare vacant units/rooms for new enrollments, including, but not limited to, cleaning, repairs, painting, and linen replacement.
  • Immediately contact the Program Manager/appropriate staff, agencies and/or law enforcement in the event of crisis and stabilize crisis situations until intervention on-call staff and/or emergency personnel responds.
  • Adhere to and enforce all house rules.
  • Respond to participants’ request(s), rendering assistance as possible; respond to and resolve conflicts and crisis situations.
  • Maintain standardized operating procedures, safety of residents, program integrity, and a supportive and caring environment.
  • Respond to after hour emergencies.
  • Maintain files/records on client services in compliance with HIPAA, 42CFR Part 2 and other funding requirements for audit purposes.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries; adhere to Special Service for Groups Inc. and Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System’s Core Values.
  • Represent the agency in a professional manner at meetings and community events.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • Must attend all assigned training courses (Relias, manager led trainings, etc.) and meetings.

 

Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years’ job-related experience working with homeless individuals.
  • If in recovery, a minimum of three (3) years of being drug and alcohol free is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database programs.
  • Ability to work with clients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
  • Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background Clearance.
  • TB test required (Not more than (3) month prior to or (7) days after Date of Hire and renewed annually thereafter).
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required within 30 days of employment with company.
  • Valid California driver license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Required to reside on site.

Secondary Functions

  • Perform other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by the Facility Supervisor, Operations Manager, Senior Manager, and/or Associate Director.
  • Overtime, holiday, or weekend work is required as assigned.

 

Residential Information:

  • Primary residency to be the SSG HOPICS Recovery Bridge Housing location.
  • Part of compensation will be a master suite bedroom with bathroom, use of property utilities and internet.
  • Use of facility appliances and amenities, for personal reasons, can only be conducted during off hours.
  • Cable television or streaming subscriptions are not provided. Any possible installations will require management approval first.
  • Any damages to the property caused by irresponsible and/or negligent behavior will be the sole responsibility of the incumbent, and any concluding consequences.
  • Program participants are never allowed in the incumbents living quarters.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Schedule: Monday – Tuesday 3pm to 11:30pm, Wednesday – Friday 8am to 4:30pm

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)

This position will require interactions with homeless individuals, individuals with severe mental and physical disabilities, the possibilities of individual with infectious diseases, and other possible dangerous associated with working in areas of high crime. You may be exposed to aggressive hostile clients.

Physical Requirements

The Staff Support Coordinator typically spends time sitting, standing, typing, thinking, writing, walking, carrying (max. 25 lbs.), listening, speaking. Driving required as needed.

Mental Requirements

This position will require the individual to be able to handle any/all the following: constant.

distractions, interruptions, uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules be able to process information, think and conceptualize. Incumbent must be ready to deal with traumas which may trigger personal trauma.
