In consultation with the Oral Health Program, the School Program Liaison will collaborate with the Program Supervisors and Dental Hygienists to implement KOHA (Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment) and Smile Survey 2025 at schools throughout LAC. The School Program Liaison will be part of in the field dental screening team and be responsible for the logistics of the dental screenings, including preparation and record of items needed for screenings, coordination of details with school administration, recording data and post-screening data entry into the State database. The School Program Liaison may be asked to provide updates at meetings to oral health stakeholders and participate in community engagement events promoting oral health awareness.
The purpose of the Oral Health Program (OHP) Grant Implementation Project is to hire one Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) and six Part-Time Equivalent (PTE) temporary qualified positions for OHP’s efforts in meeting the required objectives under the State’s Proposition 56 Oral Health Grant Work Plan (Grant Work Plan). The overall purpose of the Grant Work Plan is to prevent dental disease by implementing and coordinating evidence based dental public health programs and targeted interventions for socioeconomically disadvantaged populations including children in Los Angeles County (LAC). Team will implement KOHA (Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment and Smile Survey 2025 at schools throughout LAC. Several key strategies have been identified to improve the oral health of children in LA County.

This position reports to an OHP Supervisor.

The position will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance and initially funded through 12/31/2025.

Pay Rate:
$5,000 per month Salary

Shifts: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm (Fulltime), this position will be primarily telework and fieldwork. Office is based on while school are on break.

There may be occasional evening and/or weekend hours. Staff scheduling will follow Departmental policy to accommodate telecommuting, working off site, and/or flexible work schedules to meet program goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of full-time experience working in a public, community program, or dental clinic/office
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of MS Windows-based programs, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Access), Canva
  • A valid California Class C driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation, or the ability to secure timely transportation for as-needed off-site travel to various community sites throughout LAC.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, initiative, and follow through;
  • Bilingual in English and in one or more of LAC’s other threshold languages (in alphabetical order): Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Farsi, Hindi, Japanese, Cambodian, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese
  • Experience working with children and with elementary schools
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a discipline related to the core business function of Public Health
  • Experience working in the dental field.
