The On-Call Banquet Houseman is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down event spaces according to the specifications of the event. This includes arranging tables, chairs, and other furniture, as well as setting up audiovisual equipment and decorations. The role requires flexibility, as housemen are scheduled on an as-needed basis, often for events that occur outside of regular business hours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Event Setup:

    • Arrange tables, chairs, linens, and other furniture according to the event layout plan.
    • Set up stages, dance floors, podiums, and other event-specific equipment.
    • Install and test audiovisual equipment, including projectors, microphones, and speakers.
    • Ensure that all setups meet the event specifications and standards.
  • Maintenance During Events:

    • Monitor the event space during functions to ensure cleanliness and organization.
    • Replenish supplies as needed (e.g., water stations, refreshment areas).
    • Assist in clearing and resetting tables during event breaks or between sessions.
    • Address any issues that arise during the event, such as spills or equipment malfunctions.
  • Event Breakdown:

    • Disassemble and store furniture, equipment, and decorations after the event.
    • Clean and organize the event space, ensuring it is ready for the next function.
    • Assist with the inventory and storage of event materials.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the banquet staff, including servers and event coordinators, to ensure seamless event execution.
    • Communicate with the event coordinator to confirm setup and breakdown requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or banquet setting.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good physical condition, as the role involves heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and moving furniture and equipment.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment setup and troubleshooting is a plus.
Work Environment:
  • The role involves working in various venues, such as banquet halls, hotels, or conference centers.
  • Hours are irregular and based on event scheduling, often requiring night and weekend shifts.
