JOB TITLE: Banquet Houseperson

REPORTS TO: Banquet Manager, Banquet Captains

BASIC PURPOSE: Properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Correctly and efficiently set up and break down all department functions.

1. Keep function room area and storage areas clean and neat at all times. Ensure tables and chairs are stored in a safe manner
2. Return all equipment not in use to proper storage area in clean condition before the end of each shift.
3. Check electrical hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use.
4. Service/freshen all meeting rooms during breaks.
5. Assist guests whenever possible, referring all requests which are beyond scope of responsibility immediately to supervisor.
6. Perform periodic deep cleaning of banquet areas.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Be familiar with the various types of workable setups for each function room.
2. Check temperature and see if all lights are working and adjusted properly.
3. Working knowledge of AV equipment, assist AV person/guest as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Experience: Prior hotel Banquet Houseperson experienced preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak English.

Must exhibit an attention to detail.

Ability to read/interpret BEOs accurately and set function according to diagrams.

Ability to lift/push/pull/carry heavy items.

Travel required: Local travel for outside Catering functions.

Hours Required: Flexible; Scheduled days and times may vary based on need.

ENVIRONMENT:

Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying: Lifting 20-60 lbs. (trays, dish racks, glass racks, dance floor, etc.) Pushing 50-100 lbs. (carts, hot box, portable bar) Carry 20-40 lbs. (trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc.)

Bending/Kneeling: Ability to bend to low-level cabinets and banquet storage room. Bend to lift trays.

Mobility: Maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests. Distance 100 ft - 100% of time.

Continuous Standing: Standing required to service guest/functions; 100% of time scheduled.

Climbing Stairs: Up to approximately 30 steps 20% of 8-hour shift.

Protective Clothing: Slip-resistant footwear 100% of scheduled shift.

Equipment Operation: Coffee machine, ice machine, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, possible AV equipment.
