Summary:

This position provides engineering expertise in the development and implementation of automated production equipment to provide a safe manufacturing environment that enables Dometic to achieve on time delivery of quality, cost effective products.


Main responsibilities:

  • Actively drive automation within Operations. Assess, justify, and communciate automation opportunities, and lead selected projects to completion.
  • Lead the integration of SCADA systems within Operations
  • Provide leadership and technical supervision to members of the Automation Engineering group.
  • Set the standards and best practices for the Automation Engineering group
  • Coordinate automation related projects and tasks with vendors and contractors.
  • Review the work of others for technical correctness and best practices, provide feedback and
  • guidance as required.
  • Work with Operations personnel to coordinate the integration of automation solutions.
  • Design, build and validate automated equipment and processes within Operations.
  • Prepare documentation for automated solutions. This includes work instructions, drawings, parts, lists, schematics, calibration procedures, and maintenance plans.
  • Train production personnel on how to use new or modified production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot problems with existing custom production equipment. Identify resolution, correct problems, and seek opportunities for improvement. Work with the maintenance team as required.
Requirements:

Qualifications and experience:

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Automation, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience integrating robots/cobots in a manufacturing production environment
  • Knowledgeable in the development of automated production equipment, including mechanical design, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and sensor technologies.
  • Expertise in the selection and integration of electrical controls and vision systems.
  • Read and author PLC ladder logic
  • Experienced with 3D CAD software (Creo), GD&T, and MRP systems
  • Familiar with Lean principles
  • Certified robot programmer is desirable
  • Certified LabView Developer designation or equivalent is desirable

  • Able to evaluate the technical knowledge and performance of others and provide input on areas requiring improvement and how to go about improving.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for the assembly and troubleshooting of assembly and test equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a strong team.
