SUMMARY OF DUTIES

  • The Domestic Violence Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychosocial assessment, identifying moderate to severe mental health issues, substance abuse issues. Use of advance counseling skills to individuals and/or families that are affected by domestic violence.
  • Conducts intake and comprehensive assessments, including review of referral information, and identification and engagement of key participants as needed.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters' Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Requires knowledge of an advanced type.

EXPERIENCE

  • Over six months, up to and including one year.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Direct use of a variety of therapeutic skills, individual therapy with adults, social skills assessment and intervention, group counseling experience, experience with mental health and substance abuse.
  • Requires flexibility with work schedule; may be required to work evening 2 to 3 times per week and possible on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and use of personal vehicle to transport clients, as needed, as well as a willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
