Job Title: Noxious Weed Technician

Salary: $19.97 - $25.98 per hour

Klamath County Public Works is on the lookout for a Noxious Weed Technician to join our team and control noxious weeds throughout the County from April to October This seasonal role involves applying herbicides, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for an outdoor enthusiast with experience in weed eradication and equipment maintenance. If you have a knack for off-road driving, working independently, and enjoy contributing to environmental health, this role is perfect for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply herbicides or use hand tools to control noxious weeds on public and private lands.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on weed control equipment and vehicles.
  • Maintain an Oregon Public Pesticide License by attending continuing education classes.
  • Complete daily spray reports in line with County and ODA requirements.
  • Supervise and direct weed control drivers/helpers in daily field activities.

Qualifications
Experience:
  • Knowledge of noxious weed recognition and eradication.
  • Familiarity with Klamath County and Oregon road systems.
  • Experience with off-road driving, ATVs, small boats, and GPS units.
  • Comfortable working outdoors.
Certifications:
  • Oregon Public Pesticide Applicator’s License (we will help with this part)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Oregon All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Education Card
  • First Aid AND CPR Certification
Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret pesticide labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Strong report writing and business correspondence skills
  • Proficient in mathematical calculations (area, volume, etc.)
