PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The Lux Diagnostics’ phlebotomist will be responsible for a number of tasks, including but not limited to processing patient samples, creating batches, and data entry. The phlebotomist is responsible for representing Lux Diagnostics at assigned client locations. The phlebotomist will perform all permitted activities associated with sample collection, filling out laboratory requisitions, labeling, and shipment to Lux Diagnostics. The phlebotomist will not engage in any activities for the client office that are out of the scope of specimen collecting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary liaison between Lux Diagnostics and clients. Must maintain a high level of integrity, work ethic, enthusiasm, customer service, and professionalism.
  • Will be responsible for following all state and federal laws pertaining to specimen collection.
  • Performs proper specimen collection.
  • Completes all documentation needed for specimen collection.
  • Responsible for daily set-up of specimen transport to Lux Diagnostics.
  • Responsible for inventory control of all supplies in client locations. (Expiration dates, stocking of supplies)
  • Will need to order supplies on a monthly basis.
  • Engages in excellent customer service with clientele of Lux Diagnostics
  • Maintains cleanliness of the specimen collection area.
  • Complying with all laws, rules, and regulations related to companies that provided in-office specimen collection.
  • Accurately enter patient information into the LIMS system.
  • Communicate all discrepancies to the laboratory supervisor.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality standards outlined by HIPAA.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Phlebotomist Certification Required
  • Exemplary customer service skills, laboratory, and/or healthcare knowledge.
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete the job with minimal errors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in the clinical laboratory or equivalent healthcare field is preferred.
