Title: Production Manager Department: 335 Bakery
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Manufacturing Effective Date: March 2024
Summary of Position:
Position is responsible for the high-level success of the Bakery department. Oversees entire Bakery Team. Works with the Supervisors to ensure the processes, materials, and equipment are optimal for success.
Standard Hours: Mon-Fri - 8:00AM-5:00PM
Essential Job Duties:
- Planning, directing, and coordinating the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives.
- Providing leadership to develop a safety and food safety centered culture.
- Building a collaborative and trusting environment for fellow stakeholders, direct reports, and the greater team.
- Maintaining proper employment levels through selecting, interviewing, and training of personnel.
- Managing activities to improve team member retention: safety, training, engagement and development.
- Analyzing and developing solutions around safety, quality, cost and productivity issues within the production environment.
- Investigating and analyzing new processes to optimize solutions and manage risk.
- Flexibility to meet production planning through the effective use of resources.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary bakery operation according to SQF policies.
- Oversees Bakery inventory management and raw materials including the review and resolution of delivery and inventory issues.
- Collaborates with maintenance team on mechanical downtime and other related concerns.
- Effective organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and understand and effectively communicate.
- Timely management and completion of both daily and stretch goals.
- Ability to work with internal stakeholders to drive efficiency within the plant.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb., as needed
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete floor for prolonged periods
- Wear proper personal protective equipment when necessary (hair net, beard net, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
Preferred Skills
- 7-10 years of production/manufacturing experience, 4+ at a manager’s level within manufacturing;
- Trained in Good Manufacturing Practices, basic allergen handling, wash down procedures, food defense and HACCP.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Experience with JD Edwards a plus
- Industrial bakery experience a plus
