As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting the Finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records. This position will work and be cross trained in all aspects of financial accounting to help provide support to the finance department..

We are looking for a team- oriented Staff Accountant to work with our Finance team as part of a tight- knit, collaborative unit to plan and execute successful accounting strategies.

Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records. This position will be cross trained in all aspects of financial accounting to help provide better coverage to the finance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The general outline of this full time positions duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Record journal entries.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Create, maintain, and update schedules used for month-end and annual audit.
  • Assist and support other finance team members.
  • Back-up and assist with other transactional process duties as needed.
  • Back-up daily, weekly, monthly reporting activities.
  • Assist with financial analysis as needed.
  • Assist with other accounting projects and perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Actively contribute to harmonizing and methodizing item set-up in Great Plains.
  • Assist with sales analysis/reports tying in financial data from Great Plains.
  • Assist other accounting personnel as requested, primarily with sales and Ad Hoc reporting to large corporate customers per their requests and as needed.
  • Contribute to complete item creation, item maintenance, base pricing changes, and special price schedules.
  • Prepare a variety of documents, reports, and records associated with sales.

Responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Veterinary United personnel and with management.

  • Maintain regular contact with other departments and clinics to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions.
  • Assist Accounting Department personnel as needed.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant issues.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.

Performance Measurements:

  • Accuracy.
  • Turnaround time.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years experience with AR/AP, bank/account reconciliations, journal entries.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with multiple entities/locations a plus.
  • Quickbooks experience a plus.
