Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pathology Physician to join the esteemed medical team at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. As a Pathology Physician, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert diagnostic and consultative services to our valued veterans, ensuring the highest quality of patient care in the field of pathology.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of patient specimens, including tissue samples and body fluids, to accurately diagnose and characterize diseases and conditions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to contribute pathology expertise to patient treatment plans and healthcare management.
- Provide timely and accurate pathology reports, maintaining meticulous documentation of findings and interpretations.
- Contribute to the interpretation of laboratory tests, including molecular diagnostics and immunohistochemistry.
- Stay current with advances in pathology techniques, technologies, and treatment modalities through continuous learning and professional development.
- Provide consultation and guidance to fellow medical professionals regarding pathology-related inquiries and cases.
Qualifications:
- Current license to practice medicine in any State, or Territory of the US.
- shall be Board Certified Pathologist by the American Board of Pathology (abpath.org) and be currently certified in BLS, ACLS or equivalency.
- Eligibility for or possession of a valid, unrestricted medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing surgical pathology, cytology, and autopsy procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Experience in teaching and mentoring medical residents and students is a plus.
