Construction Estimator


Summary/Objective


This role requires up to 20% traveling. The Construction Estimator role is responsible for both collecting information, communication with client(s) & strategically organizing pricing for the construction of buildings/additions/systems at various locations throughout the United States. This role will oversee the estimating phase in entirety from inception to close which includes, but is not limited to: initial introduction to clients, conceptual meetings, pre-bid site visits, subcontractor vetting & pricing efforts, scope review, RFI tracking & requests, bulletin review, estimate creation & organization, value engineering propositions, client negotiations, pricing revisions, creation of site sequences & schedules, hand-off to operations, and change order support/negotiations.


Essential Functions:

  • Ability to coordinate with owners’ representatives, engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs.
  • Skill to understand project goals, develop a site plan, track progress throughout execution, and meet associated deadlines.
  • Estimate costs and appropriately track changes to ensure the project is on budget.
  • Ability to define the scope of a project based on plans or verbal description as well as what trades will be necessary in order to accomplish the common goal.
  • Effectively navigate for both union & non-union work environments.
  • Establish what information is necessary in order to provide an accurate price & communicate with parties involved to collect any additional information.
  • Analyzing and reviewing bids for accuracy, quality, & capabilities with regards to project safety//size/schedule.
  • Maintaining a strong relationship with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Communicating with trade partners and suppliers regarding estimates & projected costs of projects.
  • Plan and communicate inspection need(s) and obtain construction permits from local authorities.
  • Promote a safe work environment, have the ability to spot potential hazards, and implement safety measures when necessary.
  • Ability to conceptually price, construct, phase, & schedule work with regards to all facets of work.
  • Manage vendors for assigned project.
  • Ability to communicate and create an accurate inclusion/exclusion document clearly outlining proposals for what was included within a bid.
  • Support with the execution of contracts & project set up prior to construction.
  • Reviews scope, plans, materials, etc. to understand every aspect of the job(s) being estimated.
  • Identifies opportunities to bring value to our clients.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings.
  • Builds relationship with customer and subcontractors based on trust, co-operation, and communication.

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of safety and health guidelines for construction job sites.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, sequence, and processes.
  • Proficient with MS Office products, virtual meeting software’s, and email communication.

· Bachelor’s degree in construction or project management is a plus.

· Demonstrated ability to set and manage budgets and resources.

· Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license required.

· First aid and other site relevant safety certifications is a plus.
