General Summary:

Work independently but under the direction of the Physician in the Mohs lab. This part-time position is for 2 Fridays per month in our Adrian, Michigan office.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Example of Mohs Frozen Section Histopathology Essential Duties:

  1. Perform Mohs Frozen Histopathology
  2. Stain slides to be read by the Mohs Surgeon
  3. Performs cleanings and maintenance of Mohs equipment, reads and records temperatures, and records essential information on daily logs
  4. Assist with maintenance of Mohs logs/record keeping/Mohs slide filing
  5. Place hazardous waste in an appropriate bin and transport to the pickup location
  6. Assist with lab billing as needed

Example of Accessioning Essential Duties:

  1. Data entry into the EMA pathology module including but not limited to transcribing pathology reports.
  2. Accession incoming biopsies at laboratory in an accurately and timely manner
  3. Proofreads all material prior to submission and communicates with all offices for order clarifications
  4. Prepares cassettes and slides
  5. Prepares consultation, send out cases, as well as ensures accuracy of receiving elabs from outside laboratories.
  6. File slides/paperwork if needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Required:

  • Must be familiar with computers
  • Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time, and completes all tasks within the established time frame
  • Demonstrates the ability to expand roles
  • Assist other laboratory staff as needed
  • Must be able to travel between The Toledo Clinic, Woodville, Wauseon and Adrian, MI locations
  • Medicare Exclusion List
  • Adheres to all Toledo Clinic Policies and Procedures.

Education:

  • Associates Degree in Science is preferred but not required. Interest in Science is a must.

Preferred:

  • Histology Technician Certified

  • MEDICAL ASSISTANT or LPN/DERMATOLOGY
