Blue River Metal is seeking a skilled Metal Shear Operator to join our dynamic team. As a Metal Shear Operator, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing process, operating a shear and press brake machinery to cut, bend, shape, and form metal sheets according to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of metal fabrication techniques, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate shear to bend, shape, and cut metal sheets accurately.
- Select appropriate tooling and dies for each job, ensuring proper setup and alignment.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure quality standards are met and make adjustments as necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, completeness, and quality before releasing them for further processing.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize production efficiency and meet production goals.
- Document production activities, including materials used, time spent, and production quantities.
- All other duties required by business needs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in metal fabrication.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in operating metal fabrication machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in performing tasks.
- Proficient mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Overtime is required as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vocational or technical training in metal fabrication or related field.
- Forklift experience is preferred but required
