Funeral Assistant

The Funeral Assistant Driver/Transporter/Ambassador will be responsible carrying out the removal of decedents from their places of death or other facilities, such as homes, apartments, hospitals, nursing homes, medical examiner's offices, etc.
Compensation: $17.00 per hour
Job Type: Part-Time - 25 hours per week
Job Duties
- Overnight and daytime availability are required (Drivers are on call to do removals/transports)
- Current WA driver’s license with good driving record
- Past experience is preferred but we are willing to train.
- Must be willing to drive to complete removals that can be at times hours away.
- Professionalism, reliability, and compassion are a must.
- Reliable transportation to work with little advanced notice is required.
- Ability to respond to phone calls and/or text messages promptly and professionally.
- Possibility to also assist funeral directors during funeral/memorial/graveside services or viewings
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current FL Driver's License
- Ability to lift 75lbs·
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Ability to empathize with client families and their guests and demonstrate tact and patience in emotionally charged situations.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- The duties associated with this position are generally performed in an indoor setting; however, some duties may be performed outdoors. Outdoor duties may require exposure to natural elements such as inclement weather, extreme temperatures, uneven ground, dust, gas, and/or fumes.
- Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity and must be willing to work safely and comply with the Company’s safety procedures, including wearing any personal protective equipment that may be required.
- Employees in this role are regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift up to 75 pounds, and may be required to lift up to 100 pounds or more.
- Performance of this position’s duties may also require power reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- This position’s duties require routine exposure to chemicals and/or blood borne pathogens.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle and maintain a good driving record and must be insurable under company vehicle insurance.
