We operate in an Open Bakery environment, where the retail customers can see the dough mixing, baking, and dessert assembly LIVE in our bright and vibrant environment.

The Early AM Mixer Position Specifics:
This job opening is for an EARLY AM, full time Mixing and Production role for our high volume store in Jenkintown. While the starting time is not fixed, we do need you to be available as early as 4 a.m. if needed. If you are able to come in even earlier, we can discuss.
The Mixer is the main pacesetter for our dessert production, and will typically have a team of 1-3 additional bakers assembling the dough mixes. We use 60-quart floor standing mixers from Hobart for dough, as well as other methods for frostings and toppings creation.
Mixers are provided a Mix Plan of required batches in advance, with a single shift mixing and balling dough typically involving 9-14 batches. Once that days mixing schedule is completed, you would clean up, refill ingredients, and assist in other minor daily store needs as assigned until the end of the shift.
This is a full time position, but does not have to be 5 days per week if you are available for longer shifts over 3 or 4 days, the mixing schedule can be adjusted to fit.
Responsibilities Following Training Period:
- Arrive daily on time and prepare all ingredients for that days mixing schedule
- Mix pre-planned list of required dough or other recipes
- Assist in preparing of your mixed batches for cold storage and/or immediate baking
- Record production yields and make quality control notes
- Clean mixing and cookie preparation areas, equipment, and utensils
- Restock ingredients bins and record remaining inventory of ingredients
- At least 18 years old (required to operate commercial mixers)
- Able to handle 50-pound ingredients bags and commercial mixing bowls
- Available to be in the store ready to start by 4 a.m. at least 3 days per week
- Completion of Food Handlers certificate within 1 week of hire
- Comfortable using smart phone Apps, iPads, and managing digital checklists
- Comfortable working in view of and iterating with retail customers, as well as being in near constant physical motion during entire shift
- This role includes TIP SHARING, with a guarantee of at least $2.50 per hour on top of your base hourly pay rate. (Tip sharing = All tips collected are evenly distributed among hourly workers based total non-training hours worked in-store each week. If that total does not equal the minimum,, we make up the difference in hourly base pay for the week).
- Tip sharing is NOT capped, so when tips go over the minimum guarantee per hour, you earn that too
- The minimum guaranteed tip amount is subject to change every calendar quarter
