Job Summary: This position is housed in the Education Department of Mazzoni Center and works primarily within the education team to develop and facilitate LGBTQ competency trainings with a focus on trauma-informed, LGBTQ-affirming practices. The goal of this position is to foster safety, enrichment, and empowerment for LGBTQ+ youth, and to support the LGBTQ+ competency of professionals who work with these young people.

Key Responsibilities:

General

•Research, design, and deliver educational workshops to diverse populations of youth in local middle/high schools and community-based settings on topics including, but not limited to: HIV/STIs, human sexuality, sexual and gender identity, holistic health, healthy relationships, substance use, partner negotiation, consent, preventative care and other wellness topics

•Coordinate and facilitate weekly or bi-weekly LGBTQ youth discussion group

•Develop and facilitate LGBTQ+ competency trainings with a focus on trauma-informed, LGBTQ-affirming care in a wide range of industries and professional settings

•Design and plan interactive, engaging, accessible, and effective course content

•Collaborate with professionals internally and externally when appropriate to develop effective, quality trainings

•Maintain all communications with individuals or institutions who request trainings, ensuring all necessary information is approved by both parties including training content, scheduling, presenter information, training requirements, cost(s), etc.

•Manage all scheduling of professional development events and trainings applicable to established goals and objectives

•Coordinate with organizations and organize all equipment and educational materials needed for trainings

•Provide relevant resources and supportive strategies to external partners that support their efforts to increase their LGBTQ+ and trauma-informed competency

•Organize and maintain continuing education accreditation records, documentation, and reports, as determined by Education Manager

•Support Mazzoni Center’s internal professional development programming

•Assist with administrative duties for the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, as determined by Education Manager

•Support Education Manager in grant data management and provide ongoing program evaluation

Communications

•Excellent oral and written communication skills

•Must be able to communicate effectively with the clients, staff, and others, and contribute to a positive work environment

Administrative

•Maintain organized records and perform routine administrative duties including: monitoring youth programs email, data entry, digital and physical filing, supply inventory, supplemental education material development, and other operational needs

•Provides prearranged reports detailing trainings and technical assistance to Education Manager when requested

•Collect and maintain all professional development documentation including sign-in sheets, evaluations, and program assessments

•Other duties as assigned by Education Manager

Education, Training, License and Certification, Skills and Experience

•Advanced degree (Associates, Bachelors, or Graduate level) in Education, Public Health, Social Work, Counseling, or related field

•Strong understanding of LGBTQ+ cultural competencies required

•Demonstrated understanding of impact of trauma on mental and physical wellbeing and understands components of trauma-informed care

•Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of educational methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools, and technology to ensure maximum effectiveness of training programs

•Experience with program development, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation

•Strong interpersonal, motivational, and critical thinking skills •Strong self-discipline and organizational skills

•Experience with grant writing and data management

•Familiarity with medical, behavioral health, and/or legal continuing education accreditation requirements and procedures preferred

•Bilingual Preferred

Clearances

•Background checks are required, including Criminal Background Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance.

Physical Requirements

•The ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time

•The ability to lift objects greater than 35 pounds

•The ability to communicate using written and spoken words

•Must have all necessary vaccinations

•Annual PPD
