Pyrometry Technician II

Hourly Range: $33.50 - $41.00

Summary

The primary responsibilities of this position are to ensure all thermal equipment (furnaces, ovens, freezers, quench tanks, etc.) are suitably calibrated and surveyed on schedule and by proper procedure. Additionally, this position is responsible for the accurate reporting of all equipment surveys/calibration results and maintenance of appropriate records.

Major Job Duties

As a key member of Weber Metals your duties include but are not limited to:

• Maintain current knowledge of AMS 2750 and ensure pyrometry QWIs/practices are compliant
• Generate Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) reports and determine pass or fail status of all thermal equipment. Collect needed signatures and file documents for easy retrieval during audits.
• Conduct System Accuracy Tests (SATs) as needed per Weber QWI. Generate reports and determine pass or fail status of all thermal equipment and Freezer/Etch/Penetrant/Quench. Collect needed signatures and file documents for easy retrieval during audits.
• Conduct Load System Accuracy Tests (SATs) as need per Weber QWI. Generate reports and determine pass or fail status of all thermal equipment. Collect needed signatures and file documents for easy retrieval during audits.
• Review calibration reports. Collect needed signatures and file documents for easy retrieval during audits. (instrument calibration?)
• Ensure all thermal equipment is labeled with current TUS, SAT and Calibration status.
• Purchase and schedule outside calibration of pyrometry equipment and materials
• Review and approve certifications for all materials related to pyrometry prior to use. file certificates for easy retrieval during audits.
• Participate in internal and external audits regarding all pyrometry activities. Assist with root cause investigations and generation of corrective actions as needed.
• Communicate quality non-conformances both verbally and present information to supervisor, Manufacturing, and other stakeholders
• Manage furnace data recording systems related to pyrometry.
• Manage TUS/SAT/Calibration schedule. Notifying maintenance & production of upcoming surveys, tracking completion and reporting to management.
• QWI flow down, training and explanation of QWI's related to the combustion department, collect documentation, and report it the quality department.
• Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements
• Experience with Microsoft Office, with strong proficiency in Excel
• Strong aptitude in mechanical and electrical skills
• Ability to work with basic hand tools
• Self-directed with minimal supervision and possessing a sense of urgency, attention to details, and problem solving
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) is a plus

Education/Experience

• HS/GED plus 3 years of experience with calibrations and temperature uniformity surveys for thermal processing equipment or
• AA degree or higher in a technical field (Metallurgy, Electrical, general Engineering, Manufacturing, etc.) plus 2 years of experience with calibrations and temperature uniformity surveys for thermal processing equipment.
• Forging or Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
