Position Description

The Team Lead is responsible for leading the first shift Box Awnings team to meet/exceed all department goals of safety, quality, and productivity to meet customer expectations for all products produced. Assists the Area Supervisor and Production Manager with duties related to the day-to-day operation of the department. Ensures team compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Essential functions of the Team Lead position:

  • Trains employees on processes, Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and quality standards.
  • Works alongside the production team, as needed, in order to maintain line flow and meet or exceed productivity goals, ensuring completion of daily orders.
  • Performs accurate cycle counts and kanban management to ensure inventory accuracy – ensures expensed items are transacted properly, any Bill of Material (BOM) issues are escalated, and any material deviations are communicated.
  • Requisitions required parts for production in advance to avoid unnecessary downtime.
  • Assists supervisor/manager in scheduling employee job rotation.
  • Processes scrap on a daily and weekly basis – communicates any excess scrap situations or material defects.
  • Provides input and feedback to Area Supervisor for performance reviews, employee development plans, and training needs for the growth of employees.
  • Provides feedback for the creation of work procedures as they pertain to Safety, Quality and Productivity.
  • Always seeks opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintains tracking of daily KPIs and communicates progress to their team throughout the shift.
  • Promptly brings up any potential outages or shortcomings to management.
  • Leads pre-shift process for their team and ensures KPIs are communicated, and daily objectives are clear.
  • Reports and addresses any safety concerns or violations immediately and participates in incident investigation/follow-up.

Qualifications for the Team Lead position:

  • Excellent work record: including high quality work and excellent attendance.
  • Must be able to work all required hours including overtime as needed.
  • Self-motivated and a motivator of people.
  • Computer skills are helpful.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full time hourly position, and the starting pay for this position is anticipated to start at $22.70 - $23.70 per hour.
