The Lead Public Relations Associate is responsible for creating and implementing communications campaigns aligned with the business and mission objectives of ETS. Strong understanding of public relations strategy and tactics is critical, as is experience in content development and management, and digital and social media strategy. The ability to manage multiple priorities is essential to success in this role.
- Develop to improve public perception of ETS
- Develop and oversee delivery of key messages to target audiences through traditional and non-traditional earned media
- Position ETS positively with key external groups including higher education faculty and administration, policymakers, key education associations, press, and other opinion leaders
- Help inform ETS brand strategy bringing both strategic and tactical approaches to digital and social content, media relations, executive thought leadership and events.
- Actively engage, participate in and contribute to brand team planning and strategy efforts
- Develop working relationships with key media contacts
- Draft and disseminate content including press releases, media alerts, articles and other media for ETS newsroom, social media posts, social media content campaigns, video, infographic and other content types.
- Develop background materials and remarks for leadership in connection with media interviews, press briefings, conferences, business meetings, trips and other public events
- Oversee contracted PR agencies and vendors to ensure tactics are being executed in a manner consistent with established strategies, timelines and budgets
- Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the job function
Required Skills:
- Ability to create and implement a communications plan with international elements
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong interpersonal and consensus-building skills, a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work non-traditional hours when necessary
- A commitment to working collaboratively as part of a cross-divisional team
- Knowledge of web-based technology and demonstrated use of social and media tools for content creation and brand journalism, media tracking, research, analysis, and targeted communications
- Experience with crisis management
- Experience in working with education issues; K-12 education a plus

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or related field
Experience:
- 7 years of public relations/communications experience are required or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary
- Experience developing content and social media strategy
- Experience in media relations
- 7 years of experience in public relations and/or brand marketing, domestic and international, including a strong working knowledge of both traditional and social media engagement
