We are seeking a CWI Quality Control/Certified Weld Inspector in our Centralia, IL facility.
Position Summary: Inspects and documents welded projects, pipes, fittings, parts and assemblies from receiving through the assembly process up to and including final inspection. Ensures welding processes are compliant with applicable codes, customer specifications and company standards.
Essential functions and main duties are in Testing & Quality
- Associates degree in Welding Technology or related technical field plus two years welding experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- CWI certification is required
- Knowledge of a wide variety of welding processes and procedures
- Knowledge of ASME, AWS and other applicable codes and welding standards
- Excellent written and organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand building prints, layouts and welding specifications to measure against quality standards and final product completion.
- Must be very observant and very good at paying attention to detail.
- Knowledgeable in the use of technical equipment used in welding testing procedures and quality inspections.
- Requires excellent customer/interpersonal/ skills with ability to resolve welding quality issues.
- Must be detail oriented to keep accurate records and files.
- Requires good computer skills in recording and tracking data.
- Requires good math skills in performing welding tests and measurements.
- Must have good understanding of applicable safety regulations (OSHA) procedures and operations.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize issues requiring action, to take initiative with minimal guidance, and to work with minimal supervision.
Duties
- Inspect welds to ensure compliance with applicable AWS/ASME codes and standards as required with each project.
- Provide oversight and in-process inspection of welding and weld inspection processes.
- Conduct a variety of weld tests and inspections such as: hardness, internal spool inspection.
- Review and compare design drawings to completed product; red line and identify discrepancies and work with Project Managers and Engineering team to make necessary corrections.
- Review BOM against project drawings to ensure correct materials and parts have been or will be acquired; receive and inspect all pipe, fittings and related material to ensure quality standards are met.
- Performs critical inspection procedures requiring special set-ups of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources.
- Receive, organize, and maintain all material inspection reports and related documents.
- Review customer specifications against company Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) making sure all standards are met.
- Maintain documentation of compliance with applicable ASME codes and regulations
