POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Supports residents in Behavioral Health residential settings through Rehabilitation and Recovery activities that promote participant well-being. Assists clients with attending and engaging in substance abuse groups. Works individually with clients on coping skills, self-advocacy, entitlements, housing issues and activities of daily living. Provides support and problem solving assistance to clients with severe and persistent mental illness in a variety of settings. Supports and reinforces following clients Individual Service Plan. Acts as liaison and advocates between consumers and program management. Plans and facilitates social activities with clients. Completes all necessary documentation to service delivery.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Utilize knowledge of mental health through personally lived experience and recovery/training to assist consumers with defining their recovery goals, and developing the skills and knowledge needed for the consumer’s recovery. Basic computer skills are a plus. In order to perform the essential functions of this job, after an orientation period, the employee must possess the following: a working knowledge of Riveon Mental Health and Recovery Policy and Procedures, including sensitivity and adherence to clients’ rights, confidentiality, and health and safety issues. Must exhibit a sensitivity to different cultures.


WORKING CONDITIONS

The work is provided in a variety of venues and locations including in the office, in client homes, out in various community locations and businesses. Because of the variety of environments and physical conditions that will be encountered, this individual must be able to successfully interact and navigate in all types of facilities and weather conditions. This includes being able to walk, climb stairs, navigate changing surface conditions including wet, slippery, and icy grounds, and function in the proximity of electrical appliances, open flames and in areas with poor air quality including potentially smoke-filled rooms. This individual may periodically be required to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds. The individual in this position must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Due to the extensive computer work this individual must be able to sit for extended periods of time and operate required equipment


Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED. Must have knowledge of mental health through personally lived experience and recovery and a demonstrated understanding of the principles of recovery and resiliency.
  • Must be certified as a Peer Specialist or successful completion of Ohio Certified Peer Specialist training program within one year of employment.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation, with a current valid and non-restricted Ohio Driver's License with less than six points and at least minimum State-required insurance.
