Business Development Manager

PLCs Plus International is seeking a Business Development Manager with an entrepreneurial spirit that enjoys the challenge of growing a business in competitive controls automation markets where we may be under penetrated. This will entail business opportunity planning, market research and closing business opportunities within the sales pipeline. Areas of interest are in the Western United States, specifically Idaho, California, Oregon, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, and Texas. This position offers a base salary of $50,000 annually + monthly commission.
Job Requirements
The Business Development Manager position is responsible for building profitable and sustainable revenue streams by establishing client relationships, that have a need for Controls Automation Services, as well as the overall managing of the business development and sales efforts where engineering or professional consulting services are required. This position is also responsible for informing the direction and development of emerging business opportunities within our designated service areas. These emerging business opportunities should strengthen the business lines and overall market position while promoting our positions as thought leaders to our client’s and within the automation industry.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve year over year revenue growth targets as set by PLCs Plus Leadership
- Business plan development for target markets; industry or geography that establishes customer base, anticipated revenue, Capex requirements, and roadmap through barriers of entry
- Establish key relationships with clients in the C-Suite along with mid-level management to positions PLCs Plus as a long-term partner
- Proactively prospect for new business opportunities for all areas in PLCs Plus
- Identify projects where engineering and professional consulting are required for drinking water facilities, wastewater facilities, collection and distribution pipelines, pump stations, lift stations, and storage reservoirs.
- Support business strategy for developing new business opportunities
- Attendance and representation of PLCs Plus at budgeted trade shows for the specific purpose of lead generation from customers in attendance.
- Assure marketing and business development complies with Vision Statement, Mission Statement and Core Values.
- Work directly with PLCs Plus operations to provide voice of customer, align on bid responses, and coordinate scheduling needs of clients
- Utilization of database tools, social media, and the internet to find new projects and customers
- Identify and assist in recruiting qualified individuals team PLCs Plus can hire to perform the types of services needed to support new business development activities
- Utilization of Microsoft Excel to document customer opportunities including all required customer details, quote activity, and periodic details of customer touch points.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in Sales and/or Business Development is required
- Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Ability to Clearly and Effectively present Complex Information to all levels of Management and Clients
- Microsoft Office Proficiency
- Ability to travel 10%-25% of the time outside of home-based location
- Valid Driver’s License
- US Citizenship
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Under-Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business, or Sales/Marketing preferred
- Automation Controls knowledge and experience is preferred
- Experience in Industrial Automation and Controls preferred
