Vice President of Lab Services

As Vice President of Lab Services at Harris Health, you will be responsible for leading the enterprise to provide service to our patients through adoption of industry leading and transformative best practices. You will provide strategic direction, vision for a value-based model, and quality services throughout the continuum of care. This will be accomplished with strong collaborative relationships with key medical, nursing, and executive leaders in the organization and external key stakeholders to provide bold and innovative services that align with Harris Health System's strategic plan.

As VP of Lab Services, you will draw upon your demonstrated expertise to accurately assess the laboratory operating environments, appraise and prioritize challenges, and design operational plans to achieve efficient, high-performing programs. Your expertise will encompass Human Resources, service delivery optimization, automation and IT applications, cost effective formulary and inventory optimization, population health initiatives, and safety and regulatory readiness. 

Harris Health is a nationally recognized health system comprising three teaching hospitals and an extensive network of ambulatory care centers serving the people of Harris County, Texas, since 1966. Staffed by the faculty, fellows and residents from two nationally ranked medical schools, Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), Harris Health is the first healthcare system in Houston to receive the prestigious National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) designation for its network of patient-centered medical homes, and both LBJ and Ben Taub Hospitals earned the ANCC Magnet Designation in 2020.

Each year, Harris Health provides more than 1.8 million total outpatient visits through its more than 40 ambulatory care facilities. Additionally, Harris Health sees more than 177,000 emergency visits at its Level 1 and Level 3 trauma centers and 35,000 hospital admissions through its three hospitals: Ben Taub, LBJ and Quentin Mease.

• Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Master's Degree in related field preferred
• ASCP BOC Certification
• Must obtain Texas license within 90 days of employment
• 15 years of Laboratory experience
• 10 years of Management/Operations experience at Director-level or above
